Virgil's Cream Soda
I don't have to tell you this but Virgil's Root Beer and Cream Soda is great stuff. My son (8 years old) has taken a liking to the root beer. We (my wife and I) don't allow pop (soda in Canada) in the house very often so when we do it better not have bad stuff in it so we are happy to have your products in the house. My son has become a connoisseur of root beer. We were at a restaurant and allowed him to have a can of pop, because of his enthusiasm with Virgil's he ordered a root beer and along came a Barq's. Two sips and he said, this is not root beer it is gross and couldn't finish it. I am proud that my son is developing his palate and recognizing good things when he finds them. Virgil's Cream Soda is a classic cream soda recipe made naturally using the finest vanilla beans and unrefined cane sugar. For years, we have been making Virgil's Root Beer,
a three-time Outstanding Beverage Award winner of the National Association of the Specialty Food Trade (the national organization for the gourmet food trade).
We decided to make a cream soda that would rival the super premium quality
of our root beer.
Our first step was to research vanilla the main ingredient of cream soda. We found that the Totonaco Indians of Mexico were the first to cultivate and use vanilla beans. When the Aztecs defeated them, they demanded the Totonaco relinquish their vanilla cultivating secrets. Then the Spanish conquered the Aztecs around 1600 and vanilla was introduced to Europe for the first time. For the next century, only the nobility enjoyed vanilla in delicious beverages. Now vanilla beans are grown in four major regions of the world: Indonesia, Madagascar, Tahiti, and Mexico. Only the finest vanilla beans are used in our cream soda recipe. Also, keeping with our philosophy here at Virgil's, we make this product without preservatives or any artificial ingredients. Virgil's Root Beer is one man's passion to create the finest root beer ever produced. After retiring from a very successful career in the beverage industry, Ed Crowley set out to research what it would take to make the finest root beer ever. His research took him far into our country's past. He found recipe books from centuries ago when root beer was a brew made at home with local hand picked roots and spices. Recipe in hand, his search for the finest ingredients then took him around the world. He found the finest Anise in Spain, Licorice in France, Vanilla in Madagascar, Cinnamon in Ceylon, Cloves and Nutmeg in Indonesia, Wintergreen and Cassia Oil in China, Pimento Berry oil in Jamaica, Balsam oil in Peru and back home Sweet Birch and Molasses in the USA. Finally after years of traveling, he came home and started making Virgil's Root Beer. He insisted on making it naturally without caffeine or preservatives.
